New studio currently under construction

As of 2005, a new studio is currently under construction at 50 Dragoumanou Street. It will include two large stages, consisting of 2475 square feet, with a height of 40 feet. This studio will offer the latest technology from Sony digital cameras. There will also be 4000 square feet of office space, storage areas, dressing rooms, a restaurant, warehouses and all the necessary modern facilities.

Collaboration with the Academy of Cinema

The Academy of Cinema, an American based film academy will be operating three separate film programs at the Karamanos Studio. Beginning in the spring of 2006, a twelve week English language intensive film certificate program will be offered twice a year. In addition, a summer English language film program will begin in 2006 at the Studio. Various American colleges and universities will be bringing undergraduates, graduates students and instructors for a college credit program. More information about this program can be found at:

“Safe Sex” filmed at the Karamanos Studio

One of the largest box office successes in Greece, “Safe Sex” was filmed at the Karamanos Studio in 1999. This film has been noted to be very important in that it brought a tremendous upsurge in modern Greek cinema, spurring other filmmakers to receive funding for their projects.

"Bribes" by Martin Scorcese

In 2004, Martin Scorcese acted as the executive producer for the feature film, "Brides", which was directed by the Greek director, Pantelis Voulgaris. The film was filmed entirely in Greece, and its major set was at the Karamanos Studio.

Internanational agreements

Since 1994,the Karamanos Studio has been used by production companies from Greece and abroad, including the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France.

New studio built in 2002

A new studio was constructed in 2002, next to the site of the original studio ( 54 Dragoumanou Street). The new studio offers two large stages, consisting of 7,260 square feet, with a height of 41.25 feet. There are 6,600 square feet of office space, dressing rooms, warehouses and facilities.
